On April 3, 1985, Derek and Nancy Haysom were found stabbed to death in their home in Lynchburg, VA. Their daughter, Elizabeth Haysom, and her boyfriend Jens Soering were subsequently convicted of their murders. Each blamed the other. Who really killed the Haysoms? Watch “Till Death Do Us Part: Soering vs. Haysom” on Netflix for more in-depth information.

The chart starts in mysterious Scorpio. It is co-ruled by both Pluto (death and destruction) and Mars (violence, stabbing, blood). I believe that both Elizabeth and Jens were present, having driven back to Virginia from Washington D.C. after they ordered room service at 4:00 p.m. This would put them at the Haysom’s around 8:00 p.m., and sure enough, we find Pluto right on the AC, conjunct the Arabic Part of “Violence”. It seems they wasted little time before they started the murders. We find the Arabic Part of “Trickery and Deceit” here too, they must have given a bogus reason for visiting.

The motive given in the trials was that the Haysoms didn’t approve of Jens dating their daughter. Arabic Parts “Intercourse of a man” and “liberty of a person” seem to back this up. But was there a financial motive as well? Arabic Parts “Treasure Trove” and “Merchants and their Work” may suggest there was. Asteroids Velleda (sexual exploitation), Centesima (offering yourself up for another’s ends), and Euryanthe (get someone to register your real intentions) point to Jens offering himself up for Elizabeth’s reasons. When they were first arrested, both claimed Jens killed the Haysoms alone. At his trial, Jens suddenly changed his story, pointing the finger back at Elizabeth. It is believed that he initially took credit because he thought he had diplomatic immunity and therefore could not be tried for the crime.

So how can we find out who was at the Haysom house that fateful night? We can look at the 7th (house of partnerships, and in crime charts, the house of the perpetrator), and the 8th house (house of death, and in crime charts, the house of the crime).

The 7th house cusp is in Taurus, which is ruled by Venus. Venus can represent a woman. She is in the 6th house (house of misfortune) and is conjunct Mercury and the Sun. Her PNA (personal name asteroid) is found in the 3rd house, which is ruled by Mercury, and both represent vehicles. I think Elizabeth was outside in the car. She probably didn’t enter the residence until after the murders. Being in Aries, Venus is ruled by Mars (man, perp) and he is in the 7th house in Taurus, which is ruled by Venus. Astrologically this is called mutual reception, and in crime charts, it’s a pretty good indicator that they were in on the crime together.

With Saturn in the 1st, I believe that Jens attacked the Haysoms almost immediately after he arrived. Indeed, you can see his PNA in the 11th house (situations out of control) conjunct the moon (mother). She escaped to the kitchen, but he ran after her and killed her.
